Drawing on his 23 years of yoga study and experience, Kenny Graham teaches yoga in a way that is functional, accessible, intelligent and inspiring. He honors the fact that each body is unique, and that the adaptation of posture is a personal journey. His teaching helps to free limiting mental patterns, lighten the heart and increase body awareness.
Kenny teaches with a focus on equanimity of movement in Yang (Form and Flow Vinyasa) and Yin to counter imbalances, which helps restore the body to its natural fluidity and balance. Through a functional approach to posture, breath and meditation, he helps students to discover their own unique alignment in the world.
He has a BA in Psychology and has always been keenly interested in cultivating a deeper remembrance of the mind-body connection. He takes refuge in meditation practice and has witnessed first-hand its power to transform one’s own life. Meditation was his first introduction to yoga and later he supplemented this with physical practice to support his life style.
Kenny continues to study and learn from yoga teachers in many traditions and practitioners of various modalities including chiropractic, body work, anatomy, philosophy, Pilates, physical fitness, martial arts, acupuncture, nutrition and medicine. Registered with Yoga Alliance at the highest level (E- RYT®500) he teaches in Santa Cruz CA and leads teacher trainings, workshops, retreats and festivals in the Bay Area and worldwide.
Form and Flow
The Yin Yoga practice is a slow and static practice that targets fascia. In Yin Yoga there is no perfect pose and the purpose of the practice is to harmonize the flow of chi (energy) in the body. As a functional yoga practice Yin focuses on stressing targeted areas of the body. The most effective way to do this varies from person to person. Kenny teaches Yin Yoga as learned from his teachers, Yin Pioneers Paul and Suzee Grilley. http://paulgrilley.com/
No Mat Nomads
No Mat Nomads is created as a vehicle to show that yoga takes place not just on the mat, but wherever we find ourselves. The No Mat Nomads journey is towards liberation, creativity and the outer expression of inner truth. Practice is key!
